Toro Program Announcement Highlights Dangers of Incentive Pay Upon Issuance

The following communications to Toro dealers about an incentive program apparently undermined by the financial or related issues of a vendor is a warning to any companies that pays upon issuance for points to be later redeemed for rewards. Last year, the highly advertised recognition firm Blueboard shut down, also leaving clients with unredeemed points with nowhere to use them.
The Toro email to program members advised them of “some disruptions with our ONE Landscape Contractor Rewards Program website, particularly with rewards redemptions and sales detail uploads. We sincerely apologize for the frustration and delays this has caused. Rest assured, we are working diligently to resolve these issues as quickly as possible.”
These incidents, especially if they involve pay-upon-issuance business models, require extra financial due diligence and call into question the general viability of this pricing model.
